Started back in 1977 as Cal's Home Improvements, painting homes, businesses, and public schools while getting his self through college. After graduating, he continued his business as it was an enjoyment helping those taking care of interior painting and matters regarding most home repairs. Most home improvement tasks involved painting to some degree, as complete interior painting was a large part of the business back in the late 70's. Working as a Sole Proprietor doing most of the work with two other skilled tradesmen, they completed 100's of interior painting projects large or small. By the early 90's, having several journeymen painters working for him, he knew they needed to form a Corporation.

During the early Spring of 93', seriously deciding on a company name, all points pointed to the first name Eco, being an acronym for economical, and ecological. Discovery channel had a series called the Eco Challenge that was very popular. Also having to buy a new wrist watch, getting a Citizen's™ Eco Drive, while same exact months started wearing one of the most comfortable shoes Ecco™. His wife Karen, who's profession was and still is in the environmental consulting field, as a Senior Staff Geologist, their company name Eco Paint was then formed.

As our country became more aware of paints containing high V.O.C's (Volatile Odor Content) and their impact in our atmosphere, a push for Green environmentally friendly paints became ever more popular. Meeting those demands, major paint suppliers followed, meeting societies requests as of 1999-2000.  Benjamin Moore™ Paint, Sherwin-Williams™ Paint, Kwal-Howell™ Paint, Valspar™ Paint, Glidden™ Paint & Behr™ Paint all now provide interior painting materials having low to virtually zero V.O.C's, until any colorant is added.
